“Fly-fishing is solitary, contemplative, misanthropic, scientific in some hands, poetic in others, and laced with conflicting aesthetic considerations. It’s not even clear if catching fish is actually the point”

Guided fishing River Taw
The River Taw rises on Dartmoor at Taw Head and the upper section offers a classic, tranquil angling experience set against rolling countryside.
The Taw Fishing Club are custodians to over 5 miles of these beautiful waters and actively protect and preserve them throughout the year. The club strongly support the work of both public (Environment Agency) and private bodies including the Wild Trout Trust, the Southwest Rivers Trust, the River Taw Fisheries Association, and the Salmon & Trout Conservation Society in their efforts to maintain and improve the quality of the natural environment on our rivers.
An ideal day on the upper Taw would include wading through these wonderful waters while casting dry flies to rising wild brown trout with light tackle.
Guided fishing Dartmoor
The rivers of Dartmoor are some of Britain’s most beautiful and ecologically important waterways. Born on the upland moors, they wind through ancient woodland, open valleys and wild, remote country.
A day ticket on the Duchy of Cornwall’s Estate will offer an amazing network of rivers and streams made up of the West and East Dart and their tributaries.
Wading on Dartmoor can be very demanding so a certain level of fitness and balance is definitely required. Fishing on Dartmoor can be quick and electrifying — a real thrill for anglers who love lively, reactive fishing. The wild brown trout here are unique and together with the beautiful surroundings the day can be a memorable experience.
Guided fishing Exmoor
Exmoor offers some of the finest wild trout fly fishing in the UK, set against a backdrop of heather moorland, steep wooded valleys and fast-flowing rivers.
The Dulverton Angling Association are custodians of some amazing beats on the river Exe, Barle and the Haddeo with an annual membership extremely good value for money. Uppermost in the association’s mind is the restoration and care of the natural habitat and the rivers that flow through it. These rivers are celebrated for their technical fishing and the opportunity to fish for feisty, hard‑fighting wild brown trout.
Fishing on the smaller beats favour lighter tackle in often narrow beats and pocket water. However the larger sections on the Exe can require longer casts with delicate and natural presentation of the fly.
